Prestasia Cohen, MA
Marriage & Family Therapy Intern
From an early age, my passion for helping others has guided my journey toward becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist. With over six years of dedicated experience in the mental health field, I have committed myself to supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate the complexities of their lives and relationships. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Mercy University, which has provided me with a robust foundation in human behavior and health-related issues. Currently, I am advancing my expertise through a Master’s program in Marriage and Family Therapy at Touro University Worldwide. I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills in a practical setting and to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of those I serve.
I believe that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood, particularly in times of distress or uncertainty. My mission is to cultivate a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their emotions, confront challenges, and embark on transformative paths toward healing and self-discovery. I strive to help partners navigate conflicts, improve communication, and strengthen their emotional connection. I also assist families in understanding and improving their interactions, whether dealing with parenting challenges, sibling rivalry, or life transitions. Finally, I also enjoy working with adults in individual therapy, and support clients in a variety of areas, including anxiety, depression, grief, identity development, life transitions, trauma, and stress management.
Helping people live better lives is my passion. It might mean learning to set boundaries, working through a loss or transition, or helping them change a pattern of behavior that is keeping them stuck. My goal is to help my clients foster a deeper understanding of their relationship patterns and promote healthier dynamics to empower them to build fulfilling, resilient relationships and more satisfying life experiences overall.
