Laila Elashaal, MHC-LP
Mental Health Counselor – NY
Laila is a New York based LP-Mental Health Counselor. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the City College of New York, and her Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Columbia University. Her style is eclectic and modern—one that centers around humor and radical acceptance to ultimately restore a sense of joy, peace, and hope into your life.
As a mixed-race Arab-American, Laila holds an importance in shining light upon intersectional identities. She views therapy as both an art and a science, integrating mindfulness, feminist, and evidence-based interventions into traditional psychotherapeutic approaches such as psychodynamic, CBT, and ACT modalities.
Her clinical training and experience have included treating clients with a wide variety of concerns, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, identity conflicts, life transitions, family conflict, self-esteem, body image, oppression, and chronic illness. As an admirer of human strength and vulnerability, Laila works to help her clients regulate their worries and emotional distress by honoring personal values and goals. Laila’s work is client-centered and approached collaboratively, working towards challenging areas in your life and building upon inner strength, curiosity, and growth.
